Marriage in Morocco

                                   
Please note that marriages are not performed at Australian Embassies or missions.  

How to obtain a Certificate of non impediment to Marriage in Morocco (the fee is currently €133)

If you intend to get married in Morocco, the local authorities require you to obtain the following documents
(they will be issued by the Embassy in French Language):

1/ an  ‘’Attestation de non objection au Mariage’’ and 
     2/ an  ‘’Attestation de nationalité’’

The Australian Embassy in Paris can issue these two above documents  (in French) upon presentation of:

 A signed and completed “Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage” Application - Certificat de coutume -
 A certified copy of your passport (for the Australian citizen)
 A certified copy of your birth certificate (for the Australian citizen)
 A copy of your future spouse’s passport (for the non Australian citizen)
 A copy of your future spouse’s birth certificate (for the non Australian citizen)
 The appropriate fee payable in Euros, by credit card at the Embassy counter, or by credit card through the mail.

if you are in Australia
If you are in Australia, prior to go to Morocco for the weeding, please:
 -complete and sign the “Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage” Application in the presence of a person listed on the application
 -obtain certified copies of your passport and your birth certificate as well as copies of your future spouse’s passport and birth certificate
 -send the above mentioned documents plus the credit card charge form to the Australian Embassy in Paris by registered mail and we will send you the two attestations (in French) by standard mail to the address of your choice, either in Australia or in Morocco or in France.

If you are in Morocco
If you are already in Morocco, we invite you to:
 -complete and sign the “Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage”Application  in front of a local public notary in Morocco
 -obtain certified copies of your passport and your birth certificate from the same public notary
      -prepare copies of your future spouse’s passport and birth certificate
 -send the above mentioned documents  plus the credit card charge form to the Australian Embassy by registered mail in Paris who will send you the two attestations by standard mail to the address of your choice in Morocco.

If you are In France
If you are in France, we invite you to come to the Australian Embassy in Paris to:
- complete and sign the “Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage” Application in front of an Embassy Consular Officer
 -present your passport and original birth certificate
      -present also the copies of your future spouse’s passport and birth certificate
- The Embassy will then issue you the two attestations in French language that you will be able to collect from the Embassy a few days later or which can be sent by mail to the address of your choice in Morocco or in France or in Australia by standard mail.

Please nominate the address of your choice where the Embassy can send you the two documents. If your require the two documents to be delivered to you by secured mail or express post, you will need to arrange and pay (yourself) for a courrier service.

Please note that the Moroccan government requires that you present the two documents for legalisation/autentification to either the Moroccan Consulate in Paris or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rabat .
