PC7 Passport Applications

Completing an application form

PC7 application form is required to renew your full-validity passport. Your passport must be currently valid or expired less than 3 years ago.

Requesting an application from our office.
If you do not have access to the internet or a printer, you can request that the application be printed at the time of your passport interview.

Appointments are not required for passport collections (Please provide a chronopost envelope or similar if you require your passport to be mailed to you).

Lodging your Passport application

You must visit the Embassy to lodge your passport application.

When you renew your passport, you will need to present your valid or expired passport at the interview. We will return your passport at the interview.

Confirming your Citizenship

You do not need to provide any proof of citizenship other than your passport.

Name Change (including after marriage)

For any name change in your passport, please refer to a PC8 application form.

Photos

You can check the photo guidelines on The Australian Passports website for the correct size and required quality for a passport application. We are not in a position to recommend any specific photographers.

Please note that applicants must not wear eyewear (including corrective glasses) in their passport photo. Photos will need to be less than six months old.

Guarantor

You will not require a guarantor to endorse or sign one of your photos.

Passport Fees

Fees apply for passport applications. Fees are subject to adjustment at the start of each month due to fluctuations in exchange rates between the Euro and the Australian Dollar. Please visit our Passport Fees page for a list of updated fees. Priority processing service is not available in Paris.
We accept payment only with Visa or Mastercard.

Identification for Adults

You will need to bring only your passport.

Proof of current residence

You do not need to provide any proof of address.

Documents for Children’s passport applications

For applicants under the age of 18, please refer to a PC8 application form.

Collection of your passport

Once we receive the passport from Australia, we will advise you by telephone. Passports can be collected from the Embassy during normal office hours. Alternatively, we can send it to you via an appropriate prepaid envelope (chronopost or collisimo) that you must provide to the Embassy at the time of interview.

You can also authorise a third party (aged 18 years or over) of your choice to collect the passport on your behalf. This person must show an ID with a photo and an authorisation document signed by yourself.

Travelling with your Australian passport

Australian citizens who are dual nationals are required to enter and exit Australia on their Australian passport.
An Australian citizen cannot enter Australia on a foreign passport.
Some foreign governments require visitors to carry passports with at least six months validity beyond their planned stay, and you may be refused entry if you do not comply.
Before you travel, you should check the entry requirements of the countries you plan to visit or transit.

Passports Applications for Applicants residing in Algeria

All above information is applicable for applicants residing in Algeria.
We cannot send passports to Algeria. Passports will need to be collected from the Embassy in Paris.

Processing times

The processing time for an Australian passport is up to 3 weeks. Priority processing is not available at the Australian Embassy in Paris.

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Passport

If your passport is lost or stolen while in France, please visit the Australian Embassy in Paris to lodge a PC8 passport application form in order to apply for an emergency passport.

The processing time for an emergency passport is up to two business days

If your passport is lost or stolen while travelling in Algeria, please visit the Canadian Embassy in Algiers to complete a PC8 passport application form in order to apply for a provisional travel document.

The processing time for a provisional travel document may vary depending on your sitaution
